PRINCESS CHARLOTTE’S ROYAL CHRISTENING & HEIRLOOM LACE BAPTISM GOWN

PRINCESS CHARLOTTE’S ROYAL CHRISTENING & HEIRLOOM LACE BAPTISM GOWN
This past Sunday, July 5th, Princess Charlotte was christened amongst her family and close family friends at the Church St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, Norfolk. We loved looking through the photos from her special day and reading about how they incorporated old family traditions. It was also wonderful seeing how everyone dressed for this royal event – especially Princess Charlotte! It was already known before the christening that Charlotte would be wearing the royal family’s baptism gown; the same gown her older brother, Prince George, wore just a few years ago for his christening! The Royal Baptism Gown
is a long, traditional length, with layers upon layers of a beautiful ivory lace and white satin. The details of the gown are so gorgeous!

TRADITION

Besides wearing the royal family’s baptism gown, Princess Charlotte was baptized with water from the Jordan River, which was held in the royal family’s Lily Font. The Lily Font is over 170 years old and used for all the royal children’s christenings.

DRESS

The royal family certainly arrived in style! Some of the first photos we saw from Charlotte’s christening were the Duke, Duchess and their two children walking to the church. Prince George looked so darling! He wore an outfit that was similar to an outfit his dad wore when he was the same age. Kate looked effortlessly beautiful in her white dress coat, and looked so gorgeous pushing Charlotte in the family’s heirloom pram.
