This little guy with the adorable dimples and big bright eyes is William! He was christened this past January wearing the Harrison Jumpsuit and matching accessories. William's mom, Jennifer, certainly put a lot of time and care into planning her son's very special day. Not only did she make the christening decorations, she baked the most beautiful 3-tier cake and provided her guests with homemade chocolates! We were quite excited that Jennifer shared the inspiring details from William's "lovely lace" christening.
I started planning 2 months in advance. I knew I wanted the theme to be simple and beautiful. So I decided to go with a Lovely Lace theme. I ordered the invitations from a friend who handmade them.
I am a teacher, but also have a small home-based bakery on the side. Therefore knew I wanted to make special treats for his day. I made a 3 tier cake, lace sugar cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries. I decorated the table with pictures of William, as well as pictures of his Godparents in frames that they could take home with them afterwards. I hung paper lanterns from the ceiling and wrapped the tables with lace tablecloths.
I made homemade soap and wrapped them in lace as a take home gift, as well as made homemade boxes of chocolates as a Thank You to our 40 guests.
William’s Grandma and Grandpa, and Godmother came over before the christening to help dress him. Since he is the first boy in our family, we did not have a Christening outfit to pass on. I ordered the collection knowing how wonderful he was going to look. We put on his gold cross that mommy and daddy bought for him, and dressed him. We could not believe how sweet he looked. (I had not tried on the outfit prior to the day). We made our way to the church, where he was christened with family and friends blessing him.
Afterwards, we served a dinner in our home, cut the cake (even though it broke my heart to do so.....I still have the top tier in the freezer. We will cut it and light his baptism candle next January 18th, 2015). We then opened special gifts from our guests, and shared special gifts for the Godparents.
Thank you, Jennifer! We were touched by your kind words and the beautiful photos of William.
