Lucy Rose was christened this past Summer wearing the Penelope Silk Dress. She also wore the matching Penelope Silk Bonnet and Penelope Booties. Lucy’s mom, Lynn, shared photos from Lucy’s Christening Day and answered a few questions we had about planning the event and finding the perfect christening outfit for her little girl.

What did you like about Lucy’s Christening Dress?

I loved absolutely everything about my daughter’s christening outfit! I truly feel in love with the details.

Before you started looking for a christening outfit, did you already have a design or color in mind that you wanted?

My son’s christening outfit was purchased from your site and we loved his. So, I knew I wanted to purchase my daughter’s outfit from your company too.

What do you plan to do with Lucy’s Penelope Dress now that the event is over?

Today it is displayed in my daughter’s room, but I hope to tuck it away for safe keeping and hope my daughter passes it on. I believe it is a dress that could not only be worn for a christening, but perhaps a wedding, special event or holiday.

How old was Lucy when she was christened? Was there a reason you chose to christen her at this age?

She was 5 months old. She was born in the winter so I wanted to make sure that she didn’t get sick.

How far in advance did you start planning your event? What were the first steps you took?

We started planning the event first by attending a class at our church when she was about 2 1/2 months old. I knew that the church she was going to be christened in was built circa 1899, so we wanted a vintage feel to the event. I found the dress that was beautiful but also allowed Lucy to be the star on the day without being too fussy. The luncheon was held at a historic railroad station that was built in 1876.

Did you have any special family traditions incorporated into your day?

There were a few family traditions that were incorporated into our day. 46 years ago, my aunt became my cousin’s Godmother and a beautiful tradition began within our family where each one of us is linked as we are either Godmother or Goddaughter. Now, beautiful Lucy Rose has joined us in this special Godmother/Goddaughter blessing. My aunt who started this tradition gave Lucy a beautiful rosary bracelet that she will be able to pin in her communion dress and again in her wedding dress. Lucy was also draped with the cross sash that I had worn when I was christened.

Did you have a celebration after the christening ceremony? If so, where did it take place?

We had a luncheon that was held at a historic railroad station that was built in 1876.

Was there a theme to your event/decor?

Vintage tea party: We used linens and teapots that belonged to the women in our family.

How many family & friends celebrated with you?

Do you have any suggestions for other parents as they start planning their child’s christening?

I would start with the church and who the godparents are going to be.

Looking back, was there a favorite moment from the day?

The whole day was magical.

Thank you, Lynn, for sharing Lucy Rose’s Christening with us ❤
