Luca was christened this past Spring wearing one of our newest collections; the Cameron Silk Christening Set. Together, the Cameron Jumpsuit and Skirt are a beautiful silk heirloom length gown. After the ceremony, simply unbutton the silk skirt to easily transition to an after christening outfit. Luca looked absolutely gorgeous in his christening outfit! Luca and his family reside in Namibia. Lorin, Luca's mom, planned an elegant christening for her little boy with many special touches, such as holy water directly from their family's farm. Lorin was kind to share the beautiful pictures from Luca's special day and a few special details that will be sure to leave you feeling inspired.
I arranged the christening myself and each of Luca's grandmothers made something for the event. The one helped with the flowers and the other made book marks and helped with the table arrangements. We had the function at a very old colonial guest house in town and they made the most amazing food.
Our family bought our first "family" farm together which they are building from the ground up. My husband brought some of the water of the farm to use in the Christening of our son. The farm is located in the central area of Namibia. It is a very dry area, a bit more like a desert, but it is rich in wildlife and underground is the freshest/purest water you can get. This water is also being bottled and sold all over in Namibia and South Africa. The farm will one day be passed on to our children and the fact that we used the water in the actual christening was something memorable and special.
It was a private function with only our closest family and friends. It was done a bit differently, thus not being in a church, but our pastor is very modern and fun. He thought it was a great way to change things up a bit and it was so special.
Luca's great grandmother (my grandmother) made white flags that we hung from the ceiling. She wanted to contribute to the christening and this was a great way to be part of this event.
People were still enjoying champagne until late in the afternoon around the pool and watched the sunset together. Luca was on his best behavior ... I presume he knew it was special day.
